Where Have I Been?

I can’t believe how quickly this summer break has been going. I even had to stop and think about the fact that I hadn’t posted anything for the month of July until now. Talking about letting time get away from you. Yikes! But, please know that I’ve been working, just not-so-much in the online front.

That’s the thing about being a solopreneur — it’s not possible to be everywhere all the time. And, I don’t want to be. I do what I can do and that’s all I can do if I want to keep my sanity.

Now, I have to admit that . . . yes . . . I’ve been working with the Summer Reading Program students as well as the children that I mentor through the youth membership club I created. But outside of the “forward-facing other human beings” stuff, I’ve been slacking a bit.

And, I’m not going to feel guilty about it, because nobody is holding the fire to my feet and telling me that I have to do this or that. So, any pressure I put on myself is strictly of my own doing.

But, I’m not going to do that anymore. I’m too old for that. I’ll give myself habits to prioritize that lead to the goals I need to fulfill, and that’s that. The grind has to go. I’ve been there, done that. And, I don’t want to do that anymore.

With this outlook though, I have to be willing to take ownership of the fact that my non-pressure, non-push, non-grind philosophy may result in less than desired outcomes on what I want to achieve in the optimistic timeframe in which I’d hoped to achieve some of my creative pursuits.

That will have to be okay, too.

There are some “other” things that are worth prioritizing and putting more energy into (at least the energy I can muster up) than trying to do “all the things” that just aren’t as much of a priority right now.

Now, this blog will ALWAYS be a priority, but it’s not as high on the list as some other things in my life that I’ve had to tend to. So, please forgive me; but again, as a solo act, I have to do some juggling at times. That juggling may look like — taking a break from the Degrees of Maternity blog every once in a while. I’ve done it before, and this won’t be the last time I do it.

But, I always come back.

Anyone who’s been around here long enough knows that I eventually come back. And I must admit, it always feels SO GOOD to be back home.

So, I just wanted to take some time to say “hi” and that all is well. I pray that you and yours are doing blessed and prioritizing the things you need to do in life to keep things moving along while letting you keep your peace, health, and happiness. Those around you will appreciate that.

NEXT TIME (not promising exactly when that will be, but NEXT TIME) . . .

Let’s do a little bit of catchup with “The Literacy Corner – Update #9,” shall we?

  1. It’s so nice to see you giving yourself some time to slack off! We all need that grace and permission now and then, and I know how hard you always work every day for yourself, your family, and your wonderful students. We’re all always so grateful for everything you do and give.
