Day 6: Procrastination Station

Day 6 of the 30-Day Challenge: Procrastination Station

Task:  To share the artistic talents of Toodlez and Little Man on Degrees of Maternity.

Reason for Task:  For those of you who read my blog post, entitled Begin with the End, you are aware that two of my children, Toodlez (my oldest) and Little Man (my youngest) are up and comers in the visual arts arena.  As their Mother, I can’t help but to have an extreme appreciation for the artistic gene that some are blessed with.  Unfortunately, others (like myself) were overlooked when the creativity traits were handed out.  In other words, my children didn’t genetically inherit their talent from me or their Dad.  It resulted predominantly from a natural, God-given gift with a sprinkling of some learned behavior.

My husband and I are constantly encouraging our children to fully utilize the talents and skills sets that they have acquired over the years.  We want them to understand that, as their parents, we are incredibly proud of their creative efforts; however, we realize that there are so many others that could possibly be blessed by the things that they can do.  So, I’ve taken a moment to display some of my children’s artwork and I’m so thankful for a platform in which I’m able to do so.  I never want their scope of reach to be limited.  And what better way to let Toodlez and Little Man test the artistic waters than to share some pieces of their artwork to a new audience.

Duration of Task:  1 day with more to come in the future.

Outcome:  Today, I’m just revealing a tiny portion of what Toodlez and Little Man can do, but I will eventually incorporate more of their handiwork in some of my Degrees of Maternity endeavors.  Hopefully, you can tell that I’m all about family; so the idea of family members working together on informal as well as formal projects totally intrigues me.  I smell a hint of the family business model in action.

Here’s a Lego robot (and drawing in the background), created by Little Man.  This Lego robot was not constructed from an instruction manual.  It came directly from the mind of Little Man.  I’m not sure how many Legos it took to put this together, but my son has managed to collect hundreds of pieces over the years from different kits and Lego bundles (some of which went into this creation).  For bigger projects that come from a child’s imagination, I would encourage investing in some Lego bundles like the one below:This post contains an affiliate link.  As an Amazon Associate, I can earn from qualifying purchases if you choose to use the Amazon.com link above.  Please read my full Disclosure for more information.

Fun Fact:  Toodlez actually started her own YouTube art channel about 3 years ago, but it was pretty short-lived due to time constraints and concentration of efforts elsewhere.  So, there hasn’t been any new content placed out there for 3 years.  Nevertheless, I’m proud of Toodlez for taking the leap of faith to try her hand at something new, something that would allow her to have an artistic outlet in which to create.  You can find her YouTube channel at: The Heart of Art – YouTube.  Toodlez’ featured picture in this blog post (see below) is shown in her featured video, so check it out if you want to view the making of a partial portrait of a very successful YouTuber that actively vlogs about hair care and family life.  And since Toodlez’ channel is still out there, maybe she’ll decide to revive it in the future.  Only time will tell.
