It’s a done deal! I DID IT! We made it to this last day of the “Adventures in Tutoring Daily Challenge.” I really am proud of this accomplishment. I blogged 36 days straight (excluding Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays), starting on September 29, 2025 and concluding today on November 27, 2025. A total of 9 weeks of blogging about my tutoring adventures every Monday through Thursday.
And, the fact that I completed it after coming off of the longest hiatus I’d ever taken from the Degrees of Maternity blog made its completion that much more special.
Some of my reflections in looking back over these 36 days of blogging include:
- realizing how much I truly missed blogging while I was away. (I totally felt like I was back home on Day 1 of the challenge.)
- realizing that I truly had a lot to share about my tutoring adventures. (And, I’m not done yet. I’ve got more adventures to come and to glean lessons from.)
- realizing how I have some super fantastic supporters of this blog, who’ve stuck with me throughout this challenge, reading many of my blog posts over the last 9 weeks. (Can I just say that you made this challenge for me? It was so exciting to think that you might check out what I had to share each daily challenge day. I appreciate you and thank you so much for keeping me accountable for following through til the very end.)
- realizing that I could NEVER keep this “daily challenge” blogging pace up and that it’s okay that I don’t show up every day . . . as long as I show up and do it consistently.
- realizing that writing regularly definitely helps you hone your skills in the activity of “writing.” (So, if I want to get better at writing, I will have to put in the time with my writing.)
- realizing that doing this challenge resulted in more attention to my blog (from others) than I had seen in a long time. (This little experiment was proof to me that the more present you are and the more consistent you are, the more traffic you’ll receive.)
- realizing that, even though I was gone for a lengthy amount of time from this blog, I fell right in line with my blogging like I’d never been gone. (Like riding a bike. No matter how long I go without riding a bike, I can pick it up anytime and get from point A to point B like no time ever passed.)
- realizing that going extreme with blogging content was just what I needed to get me in a productive blogging mindset for moving forward. (I feel like my blogging discipline is back in order. If I could do this challenge, I sure can handle blogging once a week.)
- realizing that I like to blog about a variety of things — not just one subject. (So, going forward, I will make sure and have various subjects that I discuss here at Degrees of Maternity. More on that later.)
- realizing that there’s no way you’re going to get much out of me if I try to blog late at night. It just ain’t happenin’. (More times than I care to admit, I had to blog late at night, and it wasn’t pretty. I peter out early evening, so it’s like pulling teeth to get my brain functioning on all cylinders after 6p. Which is why I won’t be blogging at night. The requirements of the challenge, along with my chaotic schedule, required nighttime writing on way too many days, but this is going to be the exception rather than the rule going forward.)
To finish off this challenge, I wanted to let you know what “Blog Life after the Challenge” will look like.
Content creation will look pretty laid-back compared to what I just finished accomplishing with blogging for these 36 days of the challenge. I plan on blogging once a week (probably on Thursdays) for the time being. My blogging content will go back and forth between reading and writing themes. And, here’s one I think I’ll be getting deep into in the near future:
GRANT WRITING
I’m going to be busier with grant writing going forward for the remainder of the academic year, so you’ll be hearing from me on this subject.
Oh, and writing therapy is going to make a comeback for sure.
Furthermore, my reading tutoring efforts will be ramping up some more with new students, starting the first of 2026. (I believe.) So, you’ll keep hearing about tutoring. No doubt about that.
I also have a few books I’d like to read and/or share a thing or two about. Therefore, I plan on bringing some of those bookish thoughts to the blog, as well.
I’m just SO THRILLED that I MADE IT! I made it through! It was a challenge . . . but, it was a challenge worth accepting. I’m much better off (content creation-wise) for it.
And again, “THANK YOU for being here. The success in accomplishing this challenge wouldn’t have had the same feels without you.”
