A Tale of Two Loves

Once upon a time, there was a middle-aged woman who was torn between the two creative loves of her life: Reading and Writing. And, she came to a time in her life where she felt like she had to forsake one of the relationships in order to focus on the other.

And, why?

Well, that would be a story within the story. Truly, a story for another time and place.

So, getting back to the creative loves in this woman’s life . . .

The tug at her heartstrings was such an inner struggle; because this Creative had an overwhelming amount of love to give and her heart longed to express her affection, unapologetically, to Reading AND Writing, who were both vying for her attention.

“Isn’t that what we need more of in this world?” she thought. “Heartfelt expressions of endearment toward the relationships we hold so dear to us? And, can’t we have room in our hearts for more than one love?”

Well, this middle-aged woman finally WOKE UP to the reality that she’s a creatively, multi-passionate individual. Not that she didn’t know that already. She just lost her way for a time. But, she finally came back to the realization that she wouldn’t let others define what a successfully creative relationship should look like to her — online or off.

She decided to let her heart feed her mind and determine that creatively successful path for herself. And to that end, this Creative came up with a PLAN. A way to realistically involve both loves in her creative world.

The plan she derived involves a “dream turned into reality” plotline — a plotline that looks very much like a relationship where her love for Reading as well as her love for Writing are equally nurtured and where all parties in the relationship feel appreciated and fulfilled in their fullest creative potential.

And, this Creative could not be persuaded to view the above “dream” as a fairytale that only the 1% would ever hope to realize in real-life. No.

No. No.

This WILL be her reality. A tale of two loves.

And for THE PLAN . . . well, that narrative will start revealing itself next week and continue to unfold over many months to come. Guess you’ll just have to keep reading to find out how the story goes.

  1. Phil . . . you asked THE question of all questions regarding this particular blog post. (It’s definitely the one I’d ask.) But, I love a good cliff hanger to make the reader just curious enough to come back again the next time around. Sorry to leave you hanging; but if I answer your question now, you just may not have much of an incentive to come back next blog post. So, in short, you’ll just have to wait and see, my friend. It’s the continuation of a love story rooted in online action that I’ll be glad to start sharing very, very soon. Hee. Hee.

  2. Jana,
When I first started to read this post, I thought the relevant words would be “two lovers”, and then my imagination was dashed when it read “two loves”, Reading/Writing. You can have two lovers, and two loves if you think about it.
Mind you, you can’t write anything well unless you edit it by reading it, but that is another story.
The other conclusion I came to was more personal. Is this person you are writing about, by any chance, you?
Anyone can read and write; they must learn to share their time and prioritise their actions. But then, you would say, neither one is fully catered for. I will leave this dilemma with you to work out.
All the best till the next time I stir the pot!
    Regards, Phil
