Thursdays seem to be my blogging comfort zone these days. I might have to go ahead and officially adopt them as my go-to blogging day. So, stay tuned for a blogging schedule update in the very near future. Maybe. Probably.
You know how I do when the new school year rolls around again, don’t you? Well, if you don’t, just keep checking out Degrees of Maternity content and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Hint: changes come-a-knockin’.
Oh, and just to spice things up a bit, I have this NEW (never discussed before on this blog) venture I’m going to update you with very soon and that new undertaking will need to be incorporated into the Fall schedule. Which means . . .
Some current routine work will be changed up a bit. Anyway, just stay tuned. Things are about to get different around here once again.
For now, though, I’m just going to concentrate on continuing the list from last week, as promised. I have 19 more blog posts from the Writing Therapy series that I want to highlight for you (in case you missed them the first time around).
So, here we go . . .
A Crash Course on Journaling from Someone Else (posted 3/16/23) – Laura gives you a well-detailed crash course on all-things-journaling before even getting into the prompts (which are provided for you at the end of the article). Her conversational writing to her audience is voiced in an easy-to-read, 101-introduction, “here’s what you need to know at a high level” style.
Fast-tracking the Journaling of Your Moods and Behaviors (posted 3/21/23) – And when it comes to us truly coming to terms with dysfunction in our personal identities, we can easily write off problematic ways of being that aren’t serving us well. We just ride the wave of those ways and keep it movin’.
Indecision is a Progress Killer: A Writing Therapy Reflection (posted 3/23/23) – I need to come to terms with the fact that I may need to make a decision from the Valley of Indecision rather than thinking I’m going to climb my way up and out to a perfectly-combed meadow where decisions shine bright like a sun without cloud cover.
Accountability That Balances: A Writing Therapy Reflection (posted 3/30/23) – So, I think it’s an incredible blessing when you have people in your life who will hold you in check, keep you accountable, be that sounding board of common sense and wisdom, and remind you to get your mind in the right place. These types of individuals are to be appreciated and respected because they can, sometimes, help prevent us from making shipwreck in our lives.
A Brief Working-in-Progressing Poem (posted 4/6/23) – Going hard on a real-life mission. Soon to come into fruition. Writing’s involved as you will see. But it’s mostly about humanity.
Keeping Yourself Honest During the Process (posted 4/11/23) – But, here’s the thing. We MUST go into any process understanding that the going will eventually get tough somewhere along our courses of action. And, it’s at those critical moments that we MUST have systems in place to help us carry out the behaviors that will keep us pressing forward — even when everything within us is screaming “STOP!!!”
Keeping Yourself Honest During the Process (cont.) (posted 4/13/23) – The measures and/or systems that are set in place become the rewards or penalties delivered to us when we engage in behaviors that are positive or negative to our process advancement.
Blogging Truths Be Told: Blogging . . . a Form of Writing Therapy? (posted 4/18/23) – Mainly because this blogging experience is me, my personality, my quirks, my imperfections, my heart, my lessons learned, my growth opportunities, my creative outlet, my freedom in writing, my chance to connect with others on a level that’s unmatched in any other platform I’ve been on, and MY THERAPY SESSIONS — all wrapped up in one.
The Moods-Behaviors Tracking Challenge: A Writing Therapy Exercise (posted 4/20/23) – THE CHALLENGE IS THIS: to see if you can go at least a full weekday week (Monday through Friday) recording memorable daily events that take place, where recognizable shifts in ways of being occur. And then, record those instances with moods and behaviors identified.
Two Writing Therapy Announcements You DON’T WANT TO MISS! (posted 4/25/23) – THIS ONE’S A BIGGIE! Now, I just made this announcement with my email-subscribing family this past weekend, but I wanted to catch up my family here at the blogosphere, as well. I’ll never leave you all hanging. I promise. You’ve been incredibly wonderful to Degrees of Maternity (me), so I’ll always keep you in the know on any of the good stuff coming down the pike.
Simplified Balance: A Writing Therapy Reflection and Updates (posted 5/3/23) – Same with you. In fact, in order for you to flow in the genius that’s been assigned to you, it’s really important to make sure that nurturing and replenishing YOURSELF is just as much of a focus as is pouring your gifts, talents, and abilities into others for their benefit.
The Moods-Behaviors Tracking Challenge Check-in (posted 5/10/23) – Remember: the reason for the challenge in the first place is to gain clarity on what drives us/motivates us to feel the ways we feel and/or to do the things we do. And once we’re self-aware, it makes it that much easier to create strategies or systems for managing those behaviors that can drive us to do constructive as well as destructive things.
The Stigma Behind Mental Illness (posted 5/17/23) – It’s truly important that we educate ourselves when we see loved ones: family, friends, co-workers, teammates, school mates, ourselves — struggling mentally. Because the struggle doesn’t just stay in the mind. A lot of times it reveals itself in detrimental actions that follow. And, these actions not only affect the person in question, but they also affect those individuals around the person in question.
Writing Therapy ISN’T the ONLY Therapy Out There (posted 5/24/23) – Because, we (as individuals) are very unique. We ALL have THAT THING that lights us up and gives us joy and helps us cope and provides us with comfort and sets us on a right path mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Countdown to the Membership! (posted 5/31/23) – Whoo-hoo! I’m so excited to be kicking off this new endeavor halfway into 2023. And the second half of 2023 is going to be a blast as I welcome the “Groundbreakers” into the membership in the month of June and all of the other ladies who will follow thereafter.
Writing Therapy Exercise: Let Your Positives Outweigh the Negatives (posted 6/7/23) – Those negatives tend to be the culprits responsible for getting our undivided attention, preoccupying our every waking hour, taking over our schedules and daily routines, depleting our energy reserves, and forcing us to bend to their will with reactionary effort.
Writing Therapy Exercise: Mindset Moves Obstacles (posted 6/14/23) – You’re not going against the current, but you’re riding the waves when life’s positives are magnified. Going against the grain? What’s that? Because, the energy-depleting negatives get downplayed when the things in life are just clicking.
Writing Therapy: A Short Poem about the Precious Things in Life (posted 6/21/23) – So, I say to take each day you get and see it as a gift. To cherish, to cultivate, and to nurture like those on your “Most Precious” list.
A Writing Therapy Intermission: Asking for Help and Using Your Resources (posted 6/28/23) – As a matter of fact, if we were meant to handle everything on our own, then there really wouldn’t be a need for the bedrock of society — the family. And, who needs friends, anyway? And, what’s the point of having a team, when you can handle everything on your own as an individual?
Well, that’s all folks! I hope you enjoyed this little trip down memory lane. I sure did. It’s amazing to go through your past written work and snoop a bit to see where your mind was back in the day. And truthfully, I can say that my mind was focused on all things Writing Therapy.
Let the saga continue . . .
