What’s Next with the Steps: A Writing Therapy Reflection?

Knowledge is powerful, right? But knowledge with proper application is down-right transformational.

Let me break it down another way.

It’s one thing to have power at your fingertips; but it’s a whole other level to take those fingers and work that power so it activates some life-changing reaction that moves and shakes your world as you currently know it.

The knowledge is great, but it’s the action (behind what you know to be powerful Intel) that makes the change.

So, I want you to understand that identifying where you are and where you want to be in life IS a stealth first move in rightful identity placement. Recognition of the gap in your personal makeup is a beautiful thing. It’s the gift of enlightenment on what you need to work toward to refine and re-define the REAL YOU.

And hey, why not give yourself some well-deserved credit for recognizing the identity work that needs to be done in your life. (It’s okay to go ahead and pat yourself on the back right about now.)

But, the process of self-refinement doesn’t stop there — with the recognition. It’s what you do with what you know that makes all the difference in your personal world (and professional, too).

Just understand this one true saying and you’ll go far in the inner work you’ve been commissioned to do:

There’s work to be done, and YOU have to be the one to do it!

Yes, you’re the honeybee, building upon your honeycomb of life work to self-sustain and self-enhance your identity.

(I know– there I go with the metaphorical references. Can’t help it. I like painting pictures with words.)

And that’s exactly what you’re doing with working toward your rightful identity placement.

You’re initially painting a picture (in words) of who you want to be by noting the steps (hopefully, SMART steps) that will take you from your beginning point in the personal transformation of YOU to the YOU you desire to be.

And now (after the list-making of your steps), you’re at a point where it’s time to paint the picture in real-life application of the steps by living them (acting them out) in REAL TIME.

This is what you call:

TIME TO STOP forever list-making, goal-setting, planning, putting off for another day (procrastinating), or whatever you want to call the period of time where you’re not doing any work . . .

. . . and it’s time to take the to-do list and DO THE THINGS, goal implement, carry out the plan, AND STOP PROCRASTINATING in order to get the work done today rather than some other “more convenient” day that may never come.

It’s time to work on self.

You’re the only one who can do it!

Sure, you can have some support along the way, but no one can live in the skin you’re in. But you. You’ve been charged with living YOUR life. And, you’re the only one who can decide when you’re truly ready to make the necessary changes required to get the results you need to see the REAL YOU you want to self-identify as.

You know what I mean?

I mean get going on those steps you’ve written down. It’s the small, incremental, doable stuff that dreams are made of. Take one day at a time and eat the mini-tasks in your identity transformation process in bite-sized pieces that are easier to digest.

And before you know it, you’ll be bridging that gap between where you are now and where you desire to be.

Putting in the proper work always leads to notable results. It really does. So . . .

  • Be the worker in this process and execute those steps that you’ve identified you need to work through to make life changes.
  • Be as positive in your attitude as you can while you’re working through the process.
  • Be patient.
  • Be realistic.
  • Be accountable (for the improvements you’re pursuing) to yourself and to those who make up your support system.

The Honeybee

Be the worker bee.

  1. Oh, I’m so glad that I can bring a smile to your face through this blog. THAT’S AWESOME! Makes what I do with my writing even more special to me when I hear my blogging family say they enjoy what comes across these pages over here. Busy as a bee — that’s me these days. I’m continuously trying to perfect staying productively busy, not busy just to be busy. Hope that makes sense. Here’s to us having a “get ‘er done” rest of the week.

Also, I like the reference here using the bees to drive home your message and I agree that there is a lot of work to be done and to work on self is essential like bees scouting for honey so does a person who wants to get results they need to put in the work.

    Have a productive week πŸ’―πŸ’―πŸ™Œ
