10 Questions to Consider When Writing Your Identity Needs

First, I want to start out by apologizing for missing you yesterday. I was supposed to be on board with a blog post on Tuesday, but I’ve had some family priorities that have taken precedence and was extremely preoccupied with attending to those personal tasks.

Therefore, I thought I’d distribute this post smack dab in the middle of my two scheduled blog post days (Tuesday and Thursday), and let today’s post suffice for our blogging discussion for the week.Β Hope you don’t mind.

Plus, I truly intended this week to be a writing workweek for you, based on the assignment I left for you in the last blog post, entitled How Do You Write Your Success Story?Β So, see? I’m really doing you a favor by cutting our discussion time down to once this week.

At least in my mind, it makes me feel better by thinking of my lack of blogging presence as being a benefit to your week.

Anyway . . .Β

I plan to use today’s post to provide you with a little more assistance on that assignment I just mentioned. And, I want to provide that assistance in the form of some questions I’d like for you to think about as you’re figuring out your identity needs.

Remember: you’re going through those “. . . areas that you’ve identified need some improvement when it comes to your personal makeup (from where you are now in your identity journey to where you want to be in that particular area of your life) β€” and I want you to reflect on the matter (research if you have to) and write out the steps that will fill in the blanks/fill in the gaps/connect the dots.

On how to get you to that state of being that feels like “home.”

So, let me leave you with these 10 questions to consider. My hope is that they’ll assist you in parsing out the action items you’ll need to complete in order to do better and get better with your personal makeup (the inner YOU that makes up YOU).

  1. Do you have the external resources (time, finances, support from others, access to non-monetary resources) to move toward the desired identity?
  2. If you don’t have the external resources you’ve identified you need, do you know how to get those resources?
  3. What support mechanisms (family, friends, organizations, etc.) do you have in place as you work through your identity-seeking process?
  4. If you don’t have the support currently, do you know where and how to get the support you need?
  5. Do you have an accountability partner to help you stay on track with the process?
  6. What responsibilities will you assign to your accountability partner (if you have one)?
  7. Have you been SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely) with the steps you need to take in order to move toward your desired identity?
  8. Have you identified the necessary mindset shifts you’ll need to take in order to make the necessary changes in your life?
  9. Do you have real-life examples of people or mentors who’ve gone through the identity process you’re getting ready to embark upon and who you can glean knowledge from as you work your way through your identity-refining process?
  10. When are you going to start this journey of life betterment (if you haven’t started already)?

Think about it.

And, hope to see you next week with more therapeutic writing.

  1. I definitely don’t deserve “the best website on this WordPress Community” recognition, but I truly thank you for that high compliment yet and still. I’m telling you . . . I’m completely humbled. You made my day, Mthobisi.😊

  3. Wow! You humble me every time with your comments. Could be because you’re so kind in making me feel great in the things you say. I’m just thinking . . . “this is too good to be true.” And, I’m just bracing myself for you to send something negative my way. Hee. Hee. But seriously, you are so kind. And even more seriously, I want you to let me know the criticisms you have with my posts, too. I know any suggestions for improvement you give me will only help me to do better. I appreciate getting blogging counsel from my fellow blogging friends in the blogosphere because I know your insight will help me to get better at what I’m doing at Degrees of Maternity — which is hopefully encouraging others to live their best lives. Mthobisi, thanks so much for being an awesome support to me and this blog. I REALLY appreciate the thoughtful comments you send my way. They keep me encouraged to keep doing what I do. Have a fantastic week!

  4. Amazing blog post Jana Williams. I like the way you are considerate with your writing and you care about your audience here on WordPress looking at the way you introduced the topic by first apologizing for being absent from the blogosphere due to your personal affairs and you don’t have to feel bad, all Bloggers take time off it is healthy too.

Also, I like the addition of the 10 questions here that challenge us to keep with out identity success and these question are the bread and butter for writing our identity needs. If I can summarize the 10 questions here , what I learnt was the need of the resources, time, finances and support are key and also having SMART goals gets us in the pathway to quickly identify our needs and how to tackle them for your own bettermentπŸ”₯πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ’―πŸ’―
