The act of “JUST STARTING” can be one of the most difficult tasks known to mankind. I’m serious! It’s just difficult to START at times. True enough, the type of task in question has a lot to do with why it may be hard to START. The more uncomfortable, difficult, unfamiliar, unappealing the task, the more challenging it will appear to be.
But, is the task’s outcome worth the challenge?
Everything in life isn’t meant to be a pleasant and effortless walk in the park. Sometimes, life presents us with REALLY HARD things to do. And, should we just flake out at the first, second, or even third sign of adversity, when it comes knocking at our door with no invitation in sight?
NO, we should not.
In fact, the best learning opportunities are, oftentimes, in the FIGHT!
Now correct me if I’m wrong, but it overwhelmingly appears as if the lessons that come out of adversity hit hardest, loudest, and make the most impact in our lives.
OH YEAH! You bet they do!
So, let’s not be so quick to throw in the towel when difficulties come our way. There ARE those desirables (on the other side of the task) that are worth fighting for. And the lessons learned along the way are priceless.
Now, what dreams and goals (desirables) are going unrealized in your reality?
Have you decided to NOT “JUST START” working toward them? And if “yes,” why?
Have you looked at the task (that leads up to the dream or goal) as being outside of your realm of possibility?
Have you given up the FIGHT before you even STARTED on the road to attainability?
If you answered “yes” to the last three “have you” questions, then it’s imperative that you finish reading the rest of this blog post. Now, listen up . . .
DON’T do that to yourself. You deserve better.
If you’re looking to do positive things in your life that lead to positive outcomes in your life and others’, then the FIGHT is worth it. That dream or goal (the positive outcome) is just a START and a few tasks away.
So, give this FIGHT all you’ve got and don’t look back!
I guarantee you’re not the only one who will benefit from the outcome on the other side of that challenging task or two or more.
So . . .
JUST START already!
And in conclusion, take what you can from the words in this call to action, own them, apply them, and pass them on to someone else who can use them.
Until next time . . .

You are too funny, Phil. That coffee. It’s so ironic about the coffee, because I don’t even drink the stuff. I just liked the picture, especially the “JUST START” part. Hee. Hee. You know — the “JUST START” seems so simple a concept, but it’s one of the hardest to apply. And the results from it are non-existent, unfortunately. But can I just stop to say, “WOW!” Did you just state that you have your draft completed and it’s in a beta reader’s hands? I mean . . . I’m pretty sure you just stated that in your comment. I AM SOOOOOO EXCITED for you! And yeah, you better keep me posted on when your novel hits the online bookshelves so I can purchase one. Whoo hoo! I’m so proud of you, Phil!

Mthobisi – thanks so much for checking out my blog and for this oh-so-true comment. You are exactly right. Life can bring us some really challenging situations to tackle, but we definitely have no chance of succeeding if we don’t at least attempt to see what we can accomplish by facing the challenge head-on. Putting hard work, determination, and patience into the mix might create a recipe with promising results. If we put in some good stuff, maybe we’ll get some good stuff in return (reap what we sow). Thanks again for your insightful comment. I really appreciate it.

Yana,
Before I make comment on the main part of your post, I thought I would start with the more important part first, and that is the picture which closes your piece. That coffee! Too me, even though it has a little milk or cream added, it looks so strong that you could stand your spoon up in it! Has nobody told you that that much caffeine is not good for you?
Now for the secondary comment. “Just Start”, I like it. If you never start anything, you never achieve anything. As you rightly point out, it is often the journey that is more important than the destination. Any achievement is only as good as the amount of time and effort it took to achieve it. Something that comes easy is never savored as much as something that took real effort to get there.
By the way, that reminds me, I have just finished the first draft of my novel and it is now away in England for some beta reader feedback. If you are lucky, real lucky, you just may get a chance of reading it, but it will have to be fine honed before that occurs.
Keep up the good fight!
Regards, Phil

Inspiring post about putting in the work even if the task seems hard and a mammoth assignment. Thanks for the advice and I myself am a person who is resilient and I don’t give up, I do feel tired and feel as though I should just give up and call it quits but I then say let me push and see the how the outcome will be.
Life itself is hard but we got to try at least because we shall reap what we sow right?ππ
