Blogging Truths Be Told: The Blogging Mindset Must Be Healthily Nourished + Announcement

If you’re wondering where I’m going with this one, you’re probably hitting the nail right on its head. Actually, today’s post is not meant to go over the top of anyone’s head. No, not at all. There are no trick pony questions, rocket science riddles to solve, or mysteries of the universe to uncover. And, I’m certainly not going for the super-philosophical wowing factor with the words on this page. I’m simply looking to keep the discussion straightforward, to the point, and in a way in which EVERYONE will get where I’m coming from.

And before I get to the point, let me just preface the paragraphs to follow by emphasizing that mindset is an inexhaustible subject to cover. The mind is very complex; therefore, any subject matter that seeks to tackle its intricacies will have its work cut out for it. And I’m quite aware that I can’t cover all there is to know about mindset in one little blog post (or in a hundred even), which is why . . .

I’m taking some of our blogging Friday sessions to discuss the topic of blogging mindset.

Of course, the “Blogging Truths Be Told” series will be center stage and spotlighted on blogging Fridays, but it’ll have to occasionally shine some of its light on to “The Blogging Mindset” series that will be comfortably positioned somewhere on stage left or stage right. And for those of you who enjoy all things blogging, you won’t miss a beat, because Fridays will continue to be all about the blogging life but with a bit of healthy mindset shifting here and there.

Now, on to the point of today’s discussion . . .

What I want to positively promote with “The Blogging Mindset” series is that the challenges or unwelcomed surprises you may be facing in your blogging experiences are not exclusive to you alone. The struggle for bloggers is REAL and ALL of us in the blogging ranks have been touched by them in some way or another. And since the struggles are real and don’t just go away on their own, they have to be addressed and handled. How else do we rise above the struggles if we don’t constructively do what we can to work through them?

Oh, and with a struggle, opposing forces are involved. There’s usually a good side and a bad side vying for your attention. Both struggle to captivate the mind and take over. And although they may be working on you both at the same time, one will usually dominate at any one point in time. Needless to say but I’m going to say it anyway — you have the positive voice telling you that “you can do it” and the negative voice telling you that “no, you can’t.”

And why does the negative voice, feeding bloggers’ mindsets with unhealthy substances that stunt growth, get so much traction in the blogosphere? (I have a theory to this question, which I’ll share in due time. But, what’s your take on the matter?) I mean . . .

The negative voice may tell you that you entered the blogosphere a little too late and that there’s no way you’re going to gain any traction with the amount of competition out there in such an oversaturated content platform.

This negative voice might even tell you that you have to do everything that the blogging gurus tell you to do in their blogs, courses, workshops, conferences, books, and videos in order to have a successful blog; and if you don’t, you’re setting yourself back yeeeeaaars.

And I’m not at all surprised if the negative voice overemphasizes the fact that you don’t have the flashy technical know-how to set up shop to attract readers to your blog site, the financial freedom to purchase the high-end blogging pieces to wholly form the most eye-catching picture puzzle, or the blogging metrics to show that readers out there like me; they really like me

Sadly, THE NEGATIVE VOICE may have gotten around to advising you to give up the blogging life (a time or two or more), because you’re not seeing the results you expected to see coming straight out the gait or even years down the line. And unfortunately, a lot of newbie bloggers have succumbed to the mind struggles and caved in on the side of negative influences. In this case, the negative voice got the win. It was loud enough to drown out the positive voice in the mind struggle.

So, what to do? What to do?

Well, I’ll tell you what I’M going to do. I’m going to be that positive voice that aims to healthily nourish your blogging mindset. I don’t want to see the wide-eyed hopefuls leaving the blogging ranks as quickly as they entered or see the seasoned and battered longtimers throw in the towel after giving of themselves so completely in their blogging careers.

If you know that YOUR voice should be heard because there’s something someone out there needs to hear, then you should have the opportunity to speak with your written words and not be forced out of your blessing to bless others with your message.

I want to be that positive voice that tells you to hang in there and stick it out — put one foot in front of the other and keep going with your message. Don’t give up just because:

  • the numbers aren’t there, or
  • you’re not the most knowledgeable about blogging etiquette, or
  • you don’t have the most appealing “blog site” features, or
  • you’re not a techie and could care less about the technical innards of a blog site, or
  • you have off writing days where you reveal you’re not super human, or
  • you don’t have the finances to upgrade to a more advanced blogging plan/features, or
  • you don’t have a lot of people pumping you up and patting you on the back about your blogging efforts, or
  • the money-generating efforts of your blog are little-to-none, or
  • you’re not the best at marketing strategies when introducing your blog to the masses, or
  • you have obstacles/challenges in your personal life that hinder you in your blogging life.

Of course, the list above hasn’t been exhausted in all the reasons that I desire to be that voice of blogging reason that encourages you to keep going (even when things are tough). And if you don’t get anything else from today’s post, GET THIS! If you’ve hung in there with your blogging efforts, even though you had one or more of the above struggle factors going on (and any that I didn’t mention), you’re tougher than you think. You’re a survivor.

And you know what happens when the going gets tough for survivors, don’t you?

THE TOUGH GET GOING!

Let’s continue to get and keep going with our blogging journeys. I’m in the marathon with you. Believe that. There’s no way I could write about it if I wasn’t. Hang in there with your message. There’s someone (probably lots of someones) out there that need to hear YOUR voice.
