Okay, so I’m totally going to get back to the whole “Conquering the Creative Work-Life Balance” process in the next week or so. I know that I know that I know that we need to move on to the next step in the process. But, I just keep thinking about these topics that seem to take preeminence over some of the topics I’ve already scheduled into my Content Calendar. Go figure!
Yes, I have a schedule to keep me on track and I even went so far as to blog about Creative Entrepreneurship Basics: A How-To for Creating a Content Calendar to emphasize how important it is to have a content plan. And, it is! Don’t get me wrong. It’s important to have some kind of guidance for the direction in which your content journey will go.
However, what I’m finding out (in my particular content journey) is that I can easily tend to change up the initially-scheduled topics for each content platform I participate on. At least, that’s been the case for the majority of the month of March, anyway. And it’s okay. I’m not nixing the original content topics — just moving them down the content calendar timeline a smidge. No harm, no foul.
What I’ve just described is a prime example of how the thing that may be front-and-center in your life (at a particular point in time) can take over and become all-consuming (moving other things in its path). And one thing I’ve come to know about myself and content creation (the blog life, in particular) is that I will blog about life, because that’s where my experience lies. It lies in living and learning from life. And whatever aspect of my life is in charge at the moment is what gets expressed in written form at that moment.
I can’t help it. I write about life experiences. That’s my thing. And so, I have to be real with what I write, because I’m dealing with real life. Living life and being in the moment has become one huge blogging adventure. As a matter of fact, I’ve become more and more sensitive to the monumental thought processes, actionable steps, or growth opportunities I experience as a content creator (or just as a human being). And consequently, I’ve become more deliberate in seeking ways to capture those instances on paper or computer for this blog.
Reason being? Well, I don’t live in a bubble. And it’s quite difficult for me to imagine that I’m the only one out there experiencing some of the things I do. In fact, I’m quite certain that anything I’ve experienced as a content creator has probably been or is currently being experienced by someone else somewhere in the world. There’s nothing new under the sun, right?
So, wouldn’t it benefit the next person to perhaps learn from some of my real-life happenings, because that person who’s got next probably has or will experience something quite similar? And, maybe my eager willingness to share is just what that other person needs at a particular moment in his or her life.
Now, this post is not a “Blogging Truths Be Told” installment, even though I’ve been beating around the blogging bush for a few paragraphs. No, it’s not that at all. It’s simply a timely example of how you need to be flexible as a Creative Entrepreneur (or as a Creative, in general). You may need to change up plans from time to time in order to get out the authenticity and timely relatability that life wants you to deliver to the masses.
Remember: we’re going for REAL, here. And that boils down to you having a willingness to be flexible and pivot, where needed. As a matter of fact, I’m getting ready to give you an on-the-fly example of how I’ll use the “be flexible and pivot” mantra within this very blog post.

I was just getting ready to go into my whole spiel about simplifying things and stopping the madness when it comes to overcomplicating, convoluting, and making tasks and processes so complex that you can’t really get any one thing accomplished because of the influx of ideas mulling around in your creative head. (Whew! That was two handfuls to type out.)
Yes, that’s what I was going to talk about today. And then, I started reading through this post and realized that I had just typed up over 600 words dealing with letting life happen and being real in sharing your journeys.
Soooooooooo . . .
Let’s just stay here for a couple more paragraphs. We can pick up the bijillions of ideas mulling around in the creative head some other time. Gives us time to get a big enough lasso so we can wrangle all those ideas in.
I’m going back to the part where I talk about life experiences being my thing. And your life experiences, no doubt, are probably your thing too. I mean . . . who’s going to know YOU and your life journey any better than YOU?
- where your life journey has taken you
- where you still want to go on your life journey
- what you’ve learned along life’s way
- what you still need to learn in order to have a fulfilled life
- what goals you’ve achieved and you’re aspiring to achieve on your life journey
- what makes your life journey stand out from the rest
- what you’re willing to share with others to help them on their life journeys
If you didn’t know already, I’m passionate about learning from life and sharing that knowledge with others. I even stated the following from my self-published book, Playground Instruction for the Growing Adult:
“. . . I’ve decided to give myself honorary expert-level status in the area of My Life. We all have one life to live on this Earth and I’m the only one who can live mine. Where I may be lacking in a specialized skill set that others value and are willing to pay for like the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) skills, I make up for by being a life experiences specialist. My experiences make up the life lessons that I’ve learned and continue to learn each day. And, in turn, I’m able to share these experiences with you so that you can receive some benefit that’s applicable to your situations.”
Life happens. Why not create about it?
