I’m getting ready to do it once again. I’ve decided to break regular programming to bring you some special announcement stuff. The Untitled Book #2 scheduled audio post will be postponed today to bring you the following programming . . .
So, I’ve been spending the last handful of days getting my Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT) store on point — or, at least trying to, anyway. And even though I’ve had my Etsy shop running for a little over a year now, I still consider myself a newbie on this whole entrepreneurial trek. I’m even newer with my TpT store, which just opened up in June of this year.
But this journey I’m on is so much fun.
I’m definitely trying the whole multidimensional thing when it comes to Degrees of Maternity and everything it has its hands in. And, I’m here for it.
For any aspiring entrepreneurs out there, it’s very wise to eventually diversify your offerings. Not right away, though. Give yourself some time when you’re just starting out to figure out where you need to creatively be in this world. Begin with a thing or two and get proficient at it before adding to your portfolio. Or, chuck the thing(s) altogether if they don’t suit you and move on to something new to see if that provides you with that “rightful placement” you’re searching for.
At least, I did. And I can tell you from experience that it took me nearly 3 years to start to feel comfortable in the business-minded skin I live in, after avoiding it for the first year of Degrees of Maternity’s existence. I mean I’m not 100% fool-proof or anything like that, but I’m getting there. I’m getting better each day I stick with my creative entrepreneurial journey. I think it’s safe to say that it’s starting to rub off on me. It’s like that “acquired taste” that eventually becomes a “how did I ever live without this” phenomenon.
But, it took me a minute to get there. And that’s the beautiful thing about these learning journeys we take as individuals. They take time . . . and dedication (need I say consistency in follow-through?) . . . and a don’t give-up attitude . . . and hard work . . . and lots of trial and error and hopefully successes along the way.
You’re going to work hard as a creative entrepreneur. I promise you that. But, I think the process might give you a little more space and grace as you keep trekking along. At least, it seems like I’ve been breathing a little easier lately. . .
. . .especially now that I readied my TpT store and have it set in order to receive the back-to-school influx I’m hoping it’ll experience.
For only being a month and a half old, the enthusiasm for my infant TpT store may seem a little premature, but why not expect big things?
I know the saying goes something like this: “expect the worse and hope for the best.” But, I’d rather “expect the best and see what happens.” I can always recalibrate and shake off the disappointment if it comes.
As for now, I’m going to think as positive as my finite brain will allow. I’m actually trying to take the finite characteristic of my thinking and open it up to infinite possibilities as far as my business goes. And, I want to definitely take you on this journey with me as I delve deeper into the creative business ranks. Let’s just say that you’ll start noticing some Tuesday blog posts dedicated to such an endeavor.
Hope you don’t mind.
And with all of that being said, I wanted to give you a little heads-up on some exciting sales event news that I have going on at Degrees of Maternity.
Starting today through all day tomorrow (August 4th), the Degrees of Maternity Teachers Pay Teachers store will have an up to 25% off of everything in stock sale. You’ll have to use promo code BTS21 to get the discount. (Link to the store is directly below.)

If you’re looking to gear up on back-to-school incentives and educational tools for your children, your students, or the young loved ones in your friend and family circles, this would be the ideal time and place to check out some resources you might find of benefit.
Not only is Degrees of Maternity experiencing this special “Back-to-School” sale, but all stores on the Teachers Pay Teachers platform have the opportunity to share in the fun of offering their customers the same discount off of purchases.
So, if you don’t find what you need from my store, take a look at the many teacher and student resources out there that may be just what your youngster(s) need in the classroom or at home.
Oh, and if you’re concerned at all about my blogging dedication, don’t you worry your sweet self about it. My stores may eventually become my “bread and butter”, but blogging will always be “my front and center”. Hope to see you on Friday with another “Blogging Truths Be Told” installment, unless I see you at the Degrees of Maternity TpT store first.
