Day 28: Creative Movement 30-Day Challenge

Day 28 of the 30-Day Challenge: Creative Movement:

Task (and reason for it): To continue work on my special project – this project (so much more than a task) is such an incredible opportunity to showcase Degrees of Maternity in front of a wider audience. And, I’m so thankful for the possibility of having more eyes and ears coming this way.

Duration and Outcome of Task: I’ve been working on this project off and on for a few days now, but I’m getting ready to wrap things up tomorrow. Since I’ve visited with you previously about this project I’m working on and explained that I’m not giving any details about it at this point in time, then I’ll simply use today’s blog post to share what next week will look like at Degrees of Maternity.

Practical Application of Day 28 for Your Life: Wow! Incrementally working on goals each day truly does get you further down the track and closer to the finish line. When all is said and done, I will have several big-time goals accomplished like the “special project” I’m in the process of completing and the establishment of a new online store.

It’s been real, folks. And, I’m sure I’ll be providing you with a finale blog post, capturing the major lessons I’ve come away with after participating in this challenge. But for now, I’m getting extremely excited about what comes next.

Just remember, the goal-setting should never truly end (30-day challenge or not). Life is a journey made up of many yards to cover on the track. And even though it may seem like you’re going round and round; believe me when I say, there will come a point where you see the end to the particular race (or leg of the race) at hand. But, get ready for the next one coming up. (Can you tell I’m ready for the Summer Olympics?)

Anyway, let’s discuss the strategy in a relay race for just a moment. You have one runner take his or her leg around the track and then pass the baton on to the next runner so he or she can complete his or her leg. Goal-setting is a lot like that.

Switch gears a bit and think about the solopreneur. Now, picture about four of you (I’m mean literally you) running the relay. And one of you passes the baton on to the next one of you in line for the next leg. Are you understanding the premise behind this nonsensical visual I’ve presented to you? What I’m trying to convey is that the race is ALL YOU, in most cases. And the end of one leg starts the beginning of another one. (Or, the end of one complete race means another will be coming eventually. Just you wait and see.)

Oh and by the way, please don’t even think of dropping the baton. No, don’t do it. Keep it moving!

Passing the Baton

That’s what I’m looking at right now. Keepin’ it movin’.

I have so many ideas in my mind and thoughts I’d like to see come to physical fruition. That relay with four of me would come in quite handy at times like these. But seriously, I would love to figure out a way to realistically duplicate my efforts in order to get everything done that’s swirling around in my head. But, I have to work with what I’ve got, which is just little ol’ me. So, I’ll do what I can in the timing I can, taking one day at a time to do it. Did you follow that?

With all of this being said, let me just assure you that you’ll continue to get updates on my progress on goals that started during this challenge but didn’t get finished, goals that I had on my list to do during the challenge but never got started, brand-new goals that came up after the challenge, and on-going goals that are leading to self-improvement measures in my life.

However, for the next two working days (not including Saturday), I’ll have a couple more reports for you and then I’ll be done with the challenge. Not done with life, though. So, expect more of the same. I’ll continue to keep you updated on goal-setting and -achieving at Degrees of Maternity and will always strive to relate it to practical application in your life.

  1. I’m so happy to! I’ve always preferred to help out others first, to consider the needs of others before my own. It’s gotten harder since I became a mom as my world has suddenly shrunk to two little ones who need me to put them first, so being able to support authors like yourself helps me serve the lifelong need I have to help others. I really can’t thank you, and every other author I’ve had the good fortune to work with, for letting me share their books. It’s always a huge pleasure. As I once told a professor, making others happy makes me happy! Thank you so much for your sweet words! It’s always nice to know I’m able to make someone happy.

  2. Kat – you just make my day every time you comment on one of my posts. Just makes me smile from the inside out. I’ll just say this: I think you do so much for others that words can’t fully express, especially on a magnitude of how you support the writing community. Your blog is all about the support and it’s reaching so many people. That’s why I say I want to be like you when I grow up. I’ll get there one day and then you’ll be even further along in your journey — touching even more lives than you do now. Thanks for giving me a wonderful opportunity to showcase Degrees of Maternity and reach others that I might never have had the chance to reach. And thanks for the support as always, sweet lady. I appreciate you.

  3. Oh, I wouldn’t say that! From reading everything you’ve planned and completed, I think you’ve definitely gotten a lot more done than I have lately. And all the projects and day-to-day work you do outside of your challenge is also quite impressive to me. I always feel like you have more energy than I do! But thank you so much for your kind words! I love what you sent over and can’t wait to share it with all my readers next month. It’s wonderful and I can’t thank you enough!

  4. Hey there Kat – I do believe my work during this 30-day challenge pales in comparison to what you do outside of a 30-day challenge. As I look at your posts and see all the many books you read and review, I’m the one that’s truly impressed. I don’t know how you do it day-in and day-out. You’re truly a wonder to behold. And yes, I’m so relieved that I’ve been able to get a thing or two done during this challenge. It feels pretty good, but I have so much more that’s coming my way. Furthermore, the special project has been delivered for review. I can’t wait for you to see it as well.

  5. It’s so impressive you’ve been able to do this for almost a full 30 days! I have to admit I’m feeling something like secondary exhaustion just from reading everything you’ve been doing, but it must feel wonderful to have accomplished so much in just a month.

Also, can’t wait to see you special project!
