Day 23 of the 30-Day Challenge: Creative Movement:
Task: To add the rest of my products to my Teachers Pay Teachers (TpT) store and possibly work on tying up some loose ends (follow-up) tasks.
Reason for Task: There were quite a few products that I had yet to get on my TpT store — products that didn’t get uploaded to the TpT site because I was tending to other responsibilities, keeping me away from my computer all working day long on day 22. When I finally got home on day 22, a lot of energy had already been expended and I only had a small amount of reserves to work from for content creation to-dos before I finally zonked out for the day.
Duration of Task: 1 additional day that I hadn’t originally accounted for, but that’s okay. (Sometimes, you have to be flexible because tasks/goals may take a little longer to accomplish than you initially anticipated.)
Outcome of Task: I’m pleased with the progress that I made on my TpT store. There are probably some additional reading and writing printable templates that I’ll put out some time next week, but I’m satisfied with where the product listing stands for now. And, I didn’t actually have a total of 70 products that I intended to put up on this store (as noted in day 22). I got that number from the number of products I currently have on my Etsy shop and was forgetting that I wasn’t going to place all of my Etsy items on the TpT store. So, I currently have a total of 49 items on TpT. (Not too shabby if I may say so.) And I might have an additional 10 or less that I’ll be adding shortly.
As far as the follow-up items, I didn’t manage to get to those on day 23. Today is an example of a weekday that’s pretty much devoted to recurring, routine tasks (for the most part). Some of you are already aware of this, because I’ve shared it in prior blog posts; but I do big-time cooking every Friday in preparation for Sabbath.
My family and I observe Sabbath on Saturday, and so I shut down all work-related activities on this day. No work at all, which means cooking is out of the picture. So, I spend Fridays cooking a meal for 5 individuals that will last for Fridays and provide left-overs for Saturdays and Sundays (most times). And because I cook from scratch, of course, the preparation takes a little longer than it would if everything was pre-packaged, pre-cooked, and conveniently-portioned out.
Therefore, I went into day 23 assuming that I would probably not get into the “extra” to-dos, but hoping that I could somehow surprise myself — maybe. And no, I didn’t surprise myself. I accomplished exactly what I thought I’d accomplish (adding products to my TpT store) and that was all she wrote.
Oh, I also completed Issue 10 of my semimonthly Degrees of Maternity newsletter on this day. The newsletter goes out every 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. And although, this 30-day challenge is substantially pressing on my time these days, I’ve determined not to shirk on my recurring, routine to-dos that still need tending to. The newsletter is one of those responsibilities and it’s a commitment that I’ve made to my email subscribers. So, the newsletter was a focal point of the day, even though it wasn’t considered a challenge item.
I like to mention my newsletter periodically in case I have new readers who haven’t been introduced to it yet. Yes, Degrees of Maternity has a newsletter entitled, DOMinators News, that goes out twice a month. Here’s how I came up with the name for the newsletter:
The name for the newsletter was derived from a play on words from this blog’s name and from wanting to have a meaningful name (the DOMinators) for the wonderful individuals who follow the Degrees of Maternity blog and/or subscribe to the email list. The DOMinators are heretofore known as Degrees of Maternity friends. And, the newsletter is for those friends who are all about dominating the processes and skills sets that will lead toward achieving all the positive goals they’ve set for themselves.
The newsletter is jam-packed with the following types of subject matter:
- Visual art in the form of comic strips, pictures, paintings, etc.
- Information on current Etsy and/or Amazon product offerings (now adding TPT as well)
- Information on any new product offerings
- General announcements
- Writing advice
- Writing prompts for children and adults
- Parenting advice
- Health and wellness advice
- Homeschooling updates/remote learning topics
- Goals and productivity advice

Practical Application of Day 23 for Your Life: When you have new to-dos that come in and seem to take over your world, don’t forget those tasks that are “regulars” in your life. They still have to be managed as well. Always remember that priorities win out every time. Whichever item is highest on the priority list is the one that you should focus on getting knocked out and then you can jump to a priority lower on the list. In other words, have-tos have to get done, so expend your energy on those items first. Then, you can use your left-over reserves on the “other” activities.
