Before I get into the events of day 16, I just wanted to assure you that I plan on resuming regular programming on this blog once I complete the challenge. And here’s what I mean by “regular programming”:
- Tuesday posts will go back to the audio recordings of my Untitled Book #2.
- Friday posts will continue the “Blogging Truths Be Told” series.
I miss them both tremendously, because they both serve a self-fulfilling purpose in this part of my content creation journey that needs to be nourished and cultivated. My interest in audio work is steadily increasing. And my desire to share blogging lessons I’ve learned (and am learning) in the blogosphere is so therapeutic for me and hopefully relatable and beneficial to new and seasoned bloggers alike.
So, it’s only natural for me to get back to my blogging interests once I finish the second half of the challenge. I can hardly wait. It’s times like these where you wish you could do all the things simultaneously. But, you can’t. You have to be patient with yourself and do first things first. You’re just one individual with a lot on his or her plate, and you can only do so much before you find yourself getting completely stuffed. And guess what? The other things will wait for you, because no one else is going to take them over while you’re gone. So, sit tight; it’ll be all right.
The above are some of the affirmations I keep telling myself in order to keep on track with what I have going on right now (the 30-day challenge), while looking forward to returning to my comfy zone (my previous blogging schedule of content). These affirmations remind me that “my gifts will make room for me” — all of them.
On that note, I just want to mention that I might be adding another day of posting to the mix, once I complete my “Creative Movement” tasks. I constantly have ideas pop in my head — ideas of things I’d like to pursue. And what better way to get going on my additional to-dos than to share my newfound journey with you. So, don’t be surprised if you see me tack on another challenge (not of the 30-day variety but of the “big project to launch one day” variety.)
I’ll give you some meaty details on this big project once I get to it; but for now, let’s go to day 16.
Day 16 of the 30-Day Challenge: Creative Movement:
Task: To prepare my online promotional packets to go out to two educators (an assistant principal working with the elementary summer educational program I’d like to partner with and the coordinator for this same summer program) with my local school district. Oh, and to work on my promotional pitch to both of these individuals, because I would like to deliver it the next day (by phone).
Reason for Task: I have identified an educational program for young children that I would wholeheartedly be thrilled to work with this summer. The program is a one-month program for elementary school children geared toward providing them enrichment instruction in the areas of reading and math. I’m not going to be much help with the math part, but Degrees of Maternity product offerings would be absolutely PERFECT for the reading part of the program. Now, I just need to convince these two educators that my products would be a great fit for their students.
Duration of Task: 2-day task. The first day is the prep work and the second day will be the delivery to my two contacts. (I sure hope both ladies will be available on day 17. I’ll follow up with you Sunday on how Friday’s events went down.)
Outcome of Task: The first day’s progress went well. I pretty much had a leg up on this part, since I previously worked on my promotional packets in day 6 of this challenge. (You can check out that account here.) But instead of making the physical packets outlined in day 6, I decided to provide them in online format to the two individuals I’m looking to visit with on day 17.
Here’s what the promotional packets include:
- An introduction letter, discussing a brief history of Degrees of Maternity, the platforms I’m active on, the products and services I provide, the target audience that I serve, and the mission behind Degrees of Maternity
- A business card (all the essential contact info for all Degrees of Maternity platforms is located here)
- A flyer, promoting my first self-published book, Playground Instruction for the Growing Adult
- Three separate fliers, promoting the products I carry on my Etsy shop
- A “thank you” card
Of course, I had to tweak my introductory letter to cater to the individual I’m addressing. Other than that, the online packets will contain everything that the physical packets contain with the exception of a sampling of one of the themed product bundles and a binder/report cover (not needed for online). My intention is to provide my contacts with a sampling of the journal cover/bookmarks/doorknob hangers in physical format at their request (if interested), so the realistic representation of the product can be viewed by these educators. I want them to see what their students would actually receive.
Practical Application of Day 16 for Your Life: Today’s challenge is where the prep will hopefully lead to some noteworthy action on my part. It’s always good to have a plan before heading willy-nilly into some uncharted territory. Have you ever experienced a moment when you’re almost at the point of witnessing all your hard work pay off? I’m sure you have.
So, how did it feel?
If you experienced a sense of heightened anticipation, impatience, nervousness, a little self-doubt, hopefulness, exhilaration, and fear of the unknown, then I know how you felt. I’m feeling all of that right now and then some.
With all of these mixed emotions I’m feeling, I’m still very excited about the possibilities. I’m not putting all of my eggs in one basket though. I’ve learned to make sure and come up with multiple back-up plans in case the first one doesn’t make it off the ground. Hope for the best, but plan for the unexpected.
