Day 8: Creative Movement 30-Day Challenge

Day 8 of the 30-Day Challenge: Creative Movement:

Task: to complete part 2 of “The Secret to Getting Your Written Words on the Page” blog post series.

Reason for Task: Today’s task actually came about by accident as I was going back through some old posts (can’t even remember exactly why). And I stumbled upon the following post, entitled The Secret to Getting Your Written Words on the Page (published on March 16, 2021), and happened to skim through it real quick to notice something that took me back a notch. I had noted in this blog post that there would be a part 2. But, guess what? I never came back and produced that part 2 of the post in which I had communicated.

I Forgot

Big oopsie to say the least.

And here’s the challenge with doing a blog post series: you have to remember to come back and finish what you started until you’ve delivered it in its entirety. Seems simple enough at first glance, but it can be somewhat tricky if you don’t organize yourself.

Sometimes, it’s hard for me to remember what happened two hours ago; so, details from the prior week may never have a chance of being recalled later on if they’re not recorded SOMEWHERE. My “somewhere” happened to be this blog. And, I’m truly thankful for that. But wonder if the accidental discovery of my missing post never happened. It was on a whim that I found my mistake in the first place but wonder if that never transpired. Well then, I suppose there would never be a part 2 for “The Secret to Getting Your Written Words on the Page”.

And because I have a lot of different thought processes going on in this brain of mine at any one point in time, it’s necessary to have a plan (schedulers, planners, calendars, notebooks, pieces of scratch paper, sticky notes to the forehead, etc.) for capturing to-dos that need to take place at a certain future timeframe — or else, they may get dropped off in the Land of Lost Thoughts.

Duration of Task: It just took me a couple of months to get to it; but once I did, it was a one and done.

Outcome of Task: Please go to The Secret to Getting Your Written Words on the Page – Part 2 and you’ll see the fruits of my labor. I’ve finally closed out this blog post series.

Practical Application of Day 8 for Your Life: I’m guessing you’ve probably heard the old sayings, “Better late than never” and “Finish what you start”. Well, I’m going to go with that for today’s practical application lesson. I truly believe it too, especially when it comes to keeping your word.

I want to be known as a woman who tries her best to do just that — keep her word. And, I’m not saying that I probably don’t have some other oopsies out there that I’ve missed. I’m sure I do. But, once they’ve been brought to my remembrance, I want to do my very best to right any wrongs, correct any mistakes, and keep my end of the bargain (even if it comes waaaaaayyyyy after the fact).

Sure, it’s better to be timely with promises, vows, or intentions to do something. But if the timing piece fails for whatever reason, don’t consider your commitment to fulfill that particular mission to be a complete failure. Try to come through on what you said you’d do. Words backed up by actions (even late ones) speak volumes about the kind of person you are. Stay as true to your word as you can. Your ability to follow through will be much appreciated.
