New Product Development: Printables and Hairbows

First of all, I want to apologize for being MIA on Friday. I missed Friday’s post, but I had some very important family business that took over most of last week; and therefore, it made it very difficult for me to put out a post on Friday. And, so I didn’t. But, I’m back today and ready to report what I’ll be up to this week, regarding the new products I’ll be putting out on my store.

Actually, I reported some of it in last Monday’s report when I mentioned that . . . “I’m planning on putting out physical products that I’ll be attaching to the “Beautiful Flowers” bundle of journal pages, bookmarks, and doorknob hangers. The combination of the two (the digital product components and physical product) will be known as my “Signature Line” bundle. And my intention is to have the roll-out for this line happen throughout September, but we’ll just have to see how mailing options pan out in the months to come. I don’t foresee any issues with the initial start of the line, but I want to be able to keep it up, if demand warrants it.”

I’ve already created the “Beautiful Flowers” digital product bundle and it’s out on my Etsy shop, but I’m adding the physical product addition to the bundle, which is an assortment of flower HAIRBOWS that will be offered. And, if you want to know more about how the hairbows came to be, I’d love for you to finish reading this post that includes an excerpt from an original post from November 6, 2018, entitled “Game Day Colors and Hairbows.”

The excerpt will definitely point out the difference that almost two years can make! For example, instead of basketball season just starting (like it was in my past post), we’re smack dab in the middle of playoffs amid COVID. And with civil unrest, social injustices, human loss, COVID, a volatile political environment, and virtual school starting soon for my 10-year-old, I haven’t really been able to get into the basketball fan mode once it returned. Furthermore, not only am I making hairbows, but I’m currently making digital products as well.

Therefore, I figured — why not marry the two? This week I’ll be rolling out at least two of the hairbows, along with the full-color and coloring pages printables in the “Beautiful Flowers” series. (The remaining hairbows will be presented throughout the month of September.)

Feel free to take a look-back at the post (below) that explained the inspiration for the hairbows that will be added to my Etsy shop. New product development is moving right along.

Basketball!  Basketball!  B-A-S-K-E-T-B-A-L-L!  I am so excited that basketball season is underway.  Woo!  Hoo!  My family is definitely a basketball family.  We don’t go overboard with it or anything like that, but we truly enjoy the game.  Personally speaking, I have witnessed basketball on many levels:  from NBA, NCAA, AAU, high school, middle school, biddy, and YMCA Youth.  You name it, I’ve spectated it.  Furthermore, I have a special connection to the game because Junior has even played in some of these leagues.  So, I get my fondness of the game honestly and the enjoyment never grows old for me.

While basketball differs in many ways at the various levels, it shares a commonality that is recognized across all leagues:  the representation of a team by its team colors.  On game day, the colors most certainly come out!  You have individuals (young and old) donning all types of clothing articles and matching accessories with bold colors and painting their faces and bodies to match.  And who can forget the grandeur of whole arenas that are striped out in their team colors.  If you’ve ever been to one of those events, you’ve got to admit that it’s a sight to behold.  It takes solidarity, cooperation, uniformity, and team spirit from the participants in the stands to pull off one of those extravaganzas… kind of like the characteristics of the actual team that is battling it out on the arena floor.  It takes a real team member (observing the game as well as playing the game) to colorfully represent.

So, what team(s) do you support or belong to and what are the associated colors?  Be sure to put some thoughtful consideration into this question, because most people tend to go directly to the highly celebrated sports scene.  But, I’ve been known to witness some spectacular teams outside of the athletics realm as well.  What about vocal teams, instrumental teams, dance teams, scholastic teams, youth church groups, special interest groups, drama teams, debate teams, volunteer teams, work-related teams, organization-affiliated teams, schools-at-large, and the list goes on.  And since the proud display of representative colors is so prevalent in our society, especially among the youth, I decided to pursue somewhat of an innovative outlet of mine where team colors are concerned.  It has to do with the world of HAIRBOWS.

Okay, so I bet you didn’t see that coming, but I have to tell you that creating little ladies’ hand-crafted ribbon hairbows (in the different hues of the color wheel) is somewhat therapeutic for me… kind of like writing blog posts for Degrees of Maternity.  Plus, the miniature creations, reminiscent of budding flowers, are just so stinkin’ cute.  I just had to share them with you.  I even came up with this thought.  Wonder if these small tokens of personal significance (to me) could be far-reaching and give little ladies a sense of beautiful pride in representing those teams they are so excited to support or be a part of.  How fun is that!  And Mom, don’t fret if you’re not feeling the team spirit, because hairbows are multi-faceted and work for individual needs just as well.  Can you say “belle of the ball” and “diva-in-training”.  I’ve got every occasion covered.  So, feel free to contact me and let me know what color combos and styles are of interest to you (those you wouldn’t mind seeing in the future).  I’m actually contemplating incorporating some of the “Cheerleader” hairbows into the mix.  Fun with arts and crafts leaves me open to all kinds of colorfully budding and blossoming opportunities.  The possibilities are endless!
