I Gave Myself the Day Off

I gave myself permission to skip The Art of People Business post for the day. You know, you’re allowed to give yourself a day off every once in a while, especially if you work from home normally. You control the work schedule, don’t you? I say take your breaks where you can get them. And today seemed like a good day for a break.

Day Off

And while I’m not writing my regular post today, I’m still working. You content creators know that a creative’s work is never done. I’m still working on the post for tomorrow and the scripting for my YouTube video as well. I’ll probably even put out a poll or two on Twitter today. So, I’m not really having an official day off . . . just a day off in my mind.

Furthermore, the work doesn’t start or stop with what I’m specifically doing for Degrees of Maternity. Thursday’s my grocery shopping day, so I’ll, unfortunately, have to get out and about and do my least favorite activity of all time. And since I don’t just shop for my household but several others, it’ll take me practically a work day by the time I go to the four or five stores I frequent.

And because I can’t get everything in one store due to certain items being hard to come by these days, then I have to go to several Wal-Marts or Walgreens’ or Krogers to find as much as I can before I can’t take it anymore. And hopefully, I can get some homeschooling in today although it’ll be slim pickings, but I’ll make up for it tomorrow amid my full day of cooking. Whew! I’m exhausted just thinking about today’s agenda.

But enough about me and my “day off”. As I previously stated, I only had a day off in my mind . . . a day off from writing my regularly-scheduled commentary for Degrees of Maternity. And, it feels kind of good to play hookey today.

So, I thought I’d focus in on Little Man’s Creative Corner. As soon as he showed me this magnificent mammoth of a creation he finished up the other day, I just knew I had to share it with someone outside of my family. (I could have never figured out how to construct it, so it amazes me that a nine-year-old could come up with something so intricate and detailed.) But, Little Man has an eye for building and he’s been working on this creation off and on for about a week. (I had no idea). And, he’s named it the “The Flying Shark”.

This is what happens to all the Lego pieces when your child is at home all day and all week long. They end up joining forces to create something incredibly cool-looking like this:

LMI 4LMI 3

LMI 2LMI 1

Actually, I’m just kidding about all the Lego pieces getting used up for this one transportation construct. All the Lego weren’t used in the making of this figure. There are many more pieces in various places throughout my house. So never fear, the reserves are near. In fact, I’m sure Little Man is going to keep “The Flying Shark” intact for a while since it was quite the experiment to put together. And with Lego bricks to spare, he’s already started on creation #2.

Anyway, the reason for this post is that I needed a minute to unplug from the Coronavirus for a few minutes and that called for bypassing the post that would have been scheduled for today’s The Art of People Business. Unplug means unplug. So, Little Man and his structure-forming genius was a good distraction for me. I should be recharged and back on point next week.

REMINDERS: Don’t forget to check out “Freebie Friday” tomorrow. You don’t want to miss it. I have some simple recipes for complementary items to the main meal that you’ll want to check out. And, please regularly look for the good stuff I’ll be putting out every Friday this month and, more than likely, throughout the month of May. Also, if you didn’t have a chance to visit this Monday’s polls, I’ll link them here. I sure would appreciate your assistance with all three of them. They’ll take you less than a minute to complete, and your responses to them will help me develop future products for in-home teaching tools for children.

Over and out . . . until tomorrow, that is.
