Untitled Book 2 - Part 5

Part 5:

And if researching is what it would take to be a successful entrepreneur, then researching would be my new norm. With researching comes growth and growth results from an increase in knowledge put into practical application.

So, I was at this crossroads, where I had to make a decision on what I was going to do with my life and I was prepared to wait it out until that ideal situation made its appearance. I was very fortunate and very blessed to have the opportunity to take time to evaluate what I should be doing at that particular point in my timeline.

I wanted to enter into something truly worthwhile (for what I had to offer and for what others could hopefully benefit from), after ending my homeschooling stint with my son. For I must admit, my next venture would have a hard act to follow. The homeschooling experience was, in itself, one of the most meaningful and invaluable opportunities of my lifetime.

Fortunately, I didn’t have the pressure of rushing into finding a quick job where I could start earning income right away. I had the time to actually handcraft my future . . . to basically create, develop, and nurture my next meaningful placement, as it originated from the ground up. I’m continuing on that path to this very day.

I know that a lot of people may not be in a situation where they can create their opportunities; they might have to settle into those predetermined scenarios that already exist. And, I’m not taking away from the next person’s experience in finding their own unique path to his or her purpose-filled mission. I’m just sharing with you my personal history so you can get a feel for the backdrop of my story and how it’s played out in order to bring me to the point of doing what I do for a living.

So, when I finally gave some serious deliberation about my future prospects . . . what I figured I could really offer to people, what I enjoyed doing, and what I could actually earn some money from, the light bulb went on. And, I came up with this mixture of ideal situations that I would eventually put together as a template for what I do at Degrees of Maternity today. Here were (and continue to be) a few of my favorite things: my family life and witnessing my children grow up, writing, helping others, and putting out positivity. And writing was the cornerstone that brought all of my favorites together.

As far as the writing goes, I’d always been told throughout life (from family, friends, teachers, coworkers, and leadership) that I had a knack for writing. And although I never engaged in writing as a profession (until the crossroads aftereffect), it was always there – – front and center. Writing activities were a major part of everything I performed on a regular basis.
