Today marks the beginning of the unveiling of the second book I intended to self-publish. However, I stopped short of completing it. Plans changed and I later decided to bring parts of the unfinished work to Degrees of Maternity as weekly blog posts.
Through these book excerpts, you’ll get a more detailed glimpse of how I ended up in the world of content creation and how finding your rightful placement in life ultimately leads to fulfilling one’s true purpose in carrying out the special mission, designed specifically for you.

Part 1:
The impetus, or catalysts, for my eventual move into a content creator role, came from my two sons. My oldest son is very entrepreneurial-minded and for some time he’s been testing the waters of online business. He’s always had a sense of ingenuity about him — a mind naturally drawn to invent, create, and innovate things.
I’ve seen him grow, from elementary school-aged through college-aged, and recognized that the creative entrepreneur has always been a part of him. In fact, ingenuity was intermingled in his DNA from an early age, as it has been in all of my children (each one in his or her own unique way).
Witnessing the development of my son’s affinity to create as well as his technical aptitude has been an eye-opener for me, and I’ve been able to benefit from his expertise. Out of all my family members, I consider him to be my personal tech guru. When I need some tech expertise, computer assistance, or software maintenance, he’s my immediate go-to.
I would comfortably describe him as an electrical engineering major with a high acuity for computer know-how. I’ve had the privilege of observing how his creative mind operates — how he relishes in the process of making something out of nothing (inventing) or improving upon something already created (innovating), finding better ways of doing things, and learning about objects or processes by breaking them down into their inner workings.
In my mind, I’ve just described the mindset of an entrepreneur. And, unlike my son, I never saw myself anywhere near the vicinity of being entrepreneurial-minded in theory or practical application. I never saw myself as running my own business or creating products and services. And I certainly never saw myself fulfilling the role of a writer.
Yes, I’ve written things throughout my lifetime and have done some quality work here and there, but any official or noteworthy writing I’ve ever done had always been in a school or employment-related setting, based on required assignments that were due as a normal part of the work routine. So, at this point in my creative journey, writing as an author, blogger, and YouTuber is all very new to me.
And if watching my oldest son’s talent development was the spark that ignited my interest in writing as a full-time profession, then my youngest son’s educational leap back into the public sector was the deciding factor that set my mission-driven course ablaze.
With the impression both sons left on my future endeavors, I eventually came to a crossroads in my life where some critical decisions needed to be made. And the road that I would choose would distinctly determine a certain life pathway for me that would involve all-new terrain that I’d never experienced before.
So, I had to be very deliberate and considerate in the path that I would eventually choose. I won’t go into every detail of my personal journey, but I’ll start at the point of the story that will be most relevant and beneficial to you, especially if you or someone you know is dealing with a crossroads experience.
