20 Quotes to Start Out Your Week

I just had to go through some of my previous blog posts and pull out some winning words of encouragement to start out my week. Today marks my first full week back from winter break. I thoroughly enjoyed having my husband and children off from work and school for the last two weeks. But, it’s back to work and I’m ready to go. I’ll be using my new Schedule Board for the first time this week, and it’ll be interesting to see if it keeps me on track with all of the many things I need to do throughout 2020.

Anyway, I wanted to share these Degrees of Maternity (DOM) originals again in case you’re hearing them for the first time or in case you’ve heard them before but needed a bit of a reminder. I’m not a coffee drinker, so I figured reading a few pick-me-up sayings might give me the boost I need to start this work week out with a bang. I hope they provide that gentle nudge you might need as well.

  1. Bloggers motivate… instruct… inspire… encourage… lead by example… welcome others into their lives… positively affect change.
  2. Those who work hard deserve moments to rest hard.
  3. There’s no need for us to invest our energy into procrastinating when we can channel that same energy into getting “things” done.

  5. The older I get, the wiser I should become; and my lifestyle changes should reflect such wisdom.
  6. The real deal always trumps the imitation.
  7. The unpredictable future and the memorable past depend on the individual in the present. (This quote is actually my daughter’s. I can’t truly claim it as a DOM quote; but it’s so good, I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mention it again.)
  8. Boldly pursue something greater than your limitations.
  9. Don’t force creative movement.  The best stuff shows up when you’re not looking for it.
  10. Flexibility is the key to longevity.
  11. Time is one of those precious commodities that we can never gain back once it’s spent. So, spend it wisely. (I tweaked this one a little bit from my original so that it would make sense here as a stand-alone quote.)
  12. Honestly, I still recognize progress I’m making, even when it doesn’t translate into some form of measurable output. Sometimes, it’s the inner maturity, that you experience during the goal-achieving process, that speaks volumes.
  13. The differences in our journeys make them unique to us as individuals and allow for rich learning opportunities that others can benefit from.
  14. The perfect writing duo: writing what you love + writing what others value.
  15. Reading = Learning and Learning = Growth; so, Reading = Growth.
  16. Reading can be one of the best motivators for getting your juices flowing when you’re stuck in a writing rut.
  17. With any situation that you identify as problematic or unfavorable, try to find any positive aspects and build upon them until you can eliminate as many of the negative aspects as possible.
  18. You can do what’s in your power to control to speed up the process; but most times, you just have to wait processes out and let them run their course.
  19. Everyone has difficult life processes to go through. Learn what you can from them so you can move on.
  20. Inactivity is very real and can be quite debilitating to a writer, content creator, or anyone in general. So, you have to fight it with its archenemy, productivity (activity).
