My writing framework for book creation includes:
- a specific work area/working environment. My most effective working takes place in my home office or in the comfy recliner in the living room;
- a designated time of the day to write along with the time range the writing should take place. during early mornings (between 5 – 7a);
- a determination as to the number of writing sessions and length of the writing sessions. in one continuous writing session;
- the method of writing I will use. using a combination of handwriting, dictation, and typing at the computer;
- the equipment and supplies I’ll need in my writing sessions. with mostly the help of writing utensils and paper, computer/desk/chair, recorder, recliner, and a clock;
- the health routines I must initiate in order to be in optimal writing shape each writing session. while maintaining a healthy and regular intake, adequate sleep, and at least a 3-day weekly walking regimen;
- an outline of what I’ll be writing about. always having a plan for what I will write about each writing session;
- a tracking system for determining if I’m on target with my book writing goals. and tracking my progress in my weekly/monthly planner;
- an incentives system for reaching critical milestones toward the completion of my book. then, periodically rewarding myself in a variety of ways (too many to mention for this exercise);
- the right to tweak any item to better fit my writing needs as I progress through the writing process. and giving myself permission to change things up when my schedule of life dictates it.
I’d love to hear how you set-up and prep for your book writing projects. Do tell.
