Degrees of Maternity Reborn

Y’all, today marks the one-year anniversary of my very first blog piece, The Journey Begins, on this site. Time sure has flown by; and I, most certainly, am having all kinds of fun with my blogging journey. Year one is in the books and I’m going full steam ahead into year two. What can you expect from Degrees of Maternity going forward? Well, the name of this blog, Degrees of Maternity (DOM), may give you somewhat of a clue. Maternity  = motherhood. I know. . . I know. . . I’m not your mother; but I am all about providing helpful content with a nurturing undertone. I don’t foresee that changing anytime soon. So, let me take a few minutes to share some additional things you can expect to see from Degrees of Maternity in this new year.

happy anniversary signage

  1. My goal is to relay helpful information with a focus on the following personal development topics: health and wellness, family relations, and character development.
  2. My goal is to also relay helpful information with a focus on the following professional development topics: career enhancement opportunities, education, creative entrepreneurship, and content creation.
  3. I will be sharing my writing experiences for book #2 with you. I won’t necessarily do a weekly account, but I will highlight important discoveries and take-aways from the authorship journey that book #2 takes me on. Hopefully, those of you on your own journey will find these golden nuggets beneficial to you in your writing endeavors. Writing tips for blogging will also be shared on this site.
  4. I want to make a concentrated effort to take the focus off of me and place it more on you in year two. For this very reason, you will see me posting more questions within my blog articles and utilizing polls in order to get the two-way interaction flowing. After all, even online relationships require communication, don’t they?
  5. I posted fairly consistently in year one and I plan on continuing this effort in year two but with more frequency, perhaps. You’ll probably see me visible Mon. thru Wed. or Mon. thru Thurs. And, I’ll be more likely to post early mornings (in between 7a – 10a CST).
  6. Year two will showcase more of my family members’ talents. I plan on enlisting their involvement in enhancing DOM’s offerings to you.
  7. Goal-setting will be a big piece of this blog’s pie. I will be repurposing my goal-setting content from YouTube to this blog and continuing on my goal-setting initiatives. I’ll still upload to YouTube (just slowing down to one to two videos a month for now) while putting more of my focused energy on this blog. I enjoy writing; and blogging allows me to do more of what I enjoy, while providing information that is hopefully meaningful to you.
  8. I will be more active on Twitter, so you can feel free to follow me there (@degsofmaternity), if you so choose. All blog posts will be posted there along with additional content in the form of calls to action and wise sayings/quotable. I will probably try to tweet content multiple times throughout the day (morning, afternoon, and evening).
  9. I know that your time is incredibly valuable, which is why I truly appreciate your visits to this blog. And in keeping the preceding statement in mind, I want to encourage those of you, who don’t necessarily want to check in regularly to see what content I’ve put out on the DOM blog, to enter your email address in the field under the “Follow Blog via Email” section on the right-hand side of the “Home” page. In doing so, you will receive a real-time delivery of my blog posts to your email address. Easy-peasy.  No fuss required.
  10. I’m going to make a dedicated effort to be a more active blogger in the Writing Community as well as a more active content creator in my local community. The only way to let people know I’m out here and ready to serve is to be visible. Here I am, world!

Here’s to a productive Degrees of Maternity in year two. I look forward to spending all year writing to educate, entertain, and inspire the DOM family.
