I’ve come to find out that the best time for me to effectively and efficiently cross off to-do items on my daily list of tasks is early morning. I’ve never seen myself as a morning person, but I don’t necessarily believe that you have to like getting up and getting going early in the morning in order to be productive in the morning. Over time, I’ve come to acknowledge that early morning is when I have the most clarity of mind, the most energy reserves, and the most creativity flow. For this very reason, writing and household chores better get done during the early bird period.
In theory, I would actually call myself a night owl (can easily stay up until the weeeeeeee hours of the morning) because late night is my time to unwind from the events of a busy day and get in some form of “me-time” before my head hits my pillow. So, I’m pretty much worthless as far as mentally- and manually-challenging work-related items after 8p or so.
In summary, I’m a nocturnal being of leisurely activity with a daytime work ethic. Bet you’re wondering when in the world I get any type of sleep. Well, I’m currently failing at this initiative, but working on making some improvements in this area of my life. How about you? How would you categorize your preferable time to GET actual WORK DONE in your 24-hour day? I’m interested to know.
