So, I’m just about to take my morning walk (I actually look forward to this task now) and was thinking that I’d like to ask you a question before I get going. Just to give you a quick update, I’m happy to report that Revisiting Day 2 of the 30-Day Challenge: Procrastination Station is going extremely well. Last week, I managed to get in 4 days of one-hour walks around the neighborhood and I’m looking to get in 4 or 5 days this week. We’ll see. Consequently, I’ve noticed that the best time for me to get in some Bible on audio is during this serene start of the day when I’m able to inhale some fresh air and take in the natural Vitamin D that the sun’s rays provide me. I love the fact that I can multi-task and complete two very important activities (simultaneously) that bring such physical and spiritual benefits to my everyday life. And it’s amazing how starting my day out in such a way tends to set my day’s course on a productive track.
Needless to say, having the ability to do two very different tasks (one that stimulates the body and one that stimulates the mind/soul) made me think about other opportunities to get the old physical and mental juices flowing in a day’s work. This thought then led me to think about the impact that books on audio are making on the publishing scene. I think back to all the times I used to throw around the statement (excuse) that I love to read but don’t, because I just don’t have the time to do it. Well, I can totally throw this excuse out the window in this age of the rise of the audio book. If I have the Bible on audio, then surely I can take in other books on audio as well.
Such a book option allows readers to consume books while doing chores around the home, driving in their cars, exercising inside or outside, or lounging in their favorite furniture piece of choice. You could truly take your book anywhere and still have the freedom to move around and be active while reading. Hmmm . . . the more I meditate on this viable option for people to read books, the more I think how sensible it would be to provide my books in audio format in the future.
For the fourth question in the DOM Build-a-Book Project, this inquiring mind wants to know what you think about audio books:
