It’s July! Woo hoo! Get ready for a blog blast, because there’s a lot of content that I want to share with you in the upcoming weeks. Degrees of Maternity will be cranking up the communications, regarding my new book, my newer book, and the new direction this blog will be taking. Degrees of Maternity is approaching its one-year anniversary mid-August (I can’t believe it!), and I’m already gearing up for a new start to the New Year . . . a regeneration of sorts. Are you feeling a sense of newness coming on? Here’s what you can expect:

- My book launch is planned for this month. The good thing about self-publishing is that it will be up to me on what day will be known as “Jana’s Debut Book Launch”. That date will be determined, based on when all of my final details to the book get wrapped up. I’ve got final edits, book front and back cover, and book formatting in the works. My editor is oh-so-awesome and is really putting in the brunt of the work on these final pieces. So, I’m pretty flexible on this date and I’m guessing the book launch will be more like mid-to-late July (instead of early this month).
- I’ve started preliminary work on my second book. I know you’re probably saying, “She doesn’t even have the first one under her belt yet, why in the world would she be revving up for the next one?” Well, I’m actually trying to figure that one out too. It’s complex how the mind works. In the midst of me thinking about pushing the final button to publish my e-book and paperback versions of my current book and planning out post-publication activities, my mind took me to ideas for book #2. Of course, I had to write everything down right there and then, so I wouldn’t have to rely on my memory later on. (Details tend to dissipate somewhat when leaving them to the old memory to recall at a future date.) I tried to tell my brain to hold up, but it wouldn’t listen to me. Therefore, this is how the start of book #2 came to be.
- The following piece of news is really a continuation of item #2, but it’s so very important that I wanted it to have its own space. I will be enlisting your assistance with book #2. I originally though book #2 would be the second book to the one that will come out this month. You know . . . the second book in my first ever book series. But, I’ve recently decided to veer off into a whole new direction and to have the second book to the series come out after the second book of my writing career. My plan is to hear from you, regarding the type of content you’d like to see in my next book . . . find out what things would be helpful or beneficial to you . . . find out what things you’d be interested in seeing in a book. This second book will also deal with a topic that involves personal and professional development and helping others achieve their goals. I’m all about encouraging individual growth and pursuits of passion, and I want you to play more of an active role in my second excursion during my writing journey. So, keep a look-out. I’ll start requesting your priceless feedback in the very near future.
- I will be revisiting some of my 30-day challenge items that were held up in “Procrastination Station”. If you’re not familiar with my “30-Day Challenges” section of this blog, you might find it interesting to peruse this area and see what I was up to around the beginning of December 2018 through the beginning of January 2019. I will be picking up three of the items that I have, once again, left in “Procrastination Station” and will be creating some goal-setting and goal-achieving initiatives for myself. I’ll also be adding my writing objectives for my newer book to my goal aspirations as well. (This time around, I plan on being way more organized and strategic with my writing journey).
- My “Life Writing” segment will work in conjunction with my goal planning. I’ll be doing some daily chronicling (journaling) of what progress I’m making toward achieving the goals that I’ve set for myself. (You might even see some journaling updates, regarding Little Man’s summertime activities.) And my plan is to occasionally share, with you, some of the actual progress I’m making toward my goals. If you’ve followed me through my writing journey, you know how I truly value the Accountability Partners I have in my life. You all have helped me to keep moving forward in my pursuits.
- You will see more “Jana’s Quotables”. I occasionally think of some nifty sayings that are thought-provoking and pretty motivational (at least I think so), wrapped up in compact wording packages. I would love to share them with you and see what you think.
Speaking of “Jana’s Quotables”, I think I’ll go ahead and end this update with one of them right now. In the midst of all of the exciting upcoming events and projects I’m taking on, it helps to know that “You don’t have to take on everything; just strive to do something and do it well.”
