The past four Wise Sayings were like epiphanies that floated down to my brain and instantly spoke to a situation I was dealing with at the time or had dealt with in the recent past, resembled a call to action that has been on my mind for some time, or emphasized a better way of being. However, this current week presented itself as a really big wrench in my creative flow of reflection on wise sayings that touched something within me that needed to be expressed without. You should have seen me. I was at the point of repeated forced thought about what wisdom I could share with you this week. I even went so far as to pick a topic that I hadn’t discussed recently… healthy eating. “Hmmm”? “What quote could I pull up about healthy eating”, I asked myself. “The old You are what you eat is a good one and the world-renown An apple a day… is always good for a quick learning opp for the health enthusiast”. Since I really wasn’t feeling either one (at least not enough to write about them today), I ended up dismissing these two played-out yet highly meaningful statements. No, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with sharing knowledge that can help the physical body (that’s always a worthwhile assignment), but I just couldn’t genuinely drum up anything thought-provoking to say.
Has my inspiration from wise sayings dissipated? No, definitely not. And, this is what dawned on me after my inability to come up with some meaningful discourse, based off of someone else’s genius ⇒ “Don’t force creative movement. The best stuff shows up when you’re not looking for it.” Nothing super profound… just my thoughts after muddling through the week without some impressionable words of wisdom that strongly resonated within my being. So, there you have it… another Jana-original. If you can’t find someone else’s wisdom to reflect upon, reflect upon your own experience. What do you know? I just ad-libbed the preceding quote while I was typing this post. Totally unscripted. Wow! That’s the whole point of not forcing creative movement. Creativity will come when it wants; and when it’s natural and flows from within to without, it’s a beautiful thing.
The eye-opener I experienced this week in wisdom training is telling me that I need to adopt my own wise saying when managing all aspects of my entrepreneurial efforts, especially with the one I’m knee deep in at this very moment… the writing of my first book. I have been but will continue to remind myself not to force the narrative. If I’m patient enough with the creative process (in all areas), it will come on its own. And, instead of me holding the role of catalyst, I have a feeling that creative genius will spontaneously scoop me up and pull me along for the journey. As a matter of fact, if you haven’t yet joined me on The Road to Authorship, I invite you to check out my weekly writing journey under the “DOM Writer’s Block: A Writer’s Journey” series. It’s all about the ups and downs I’m experiencing with the writing of my first book; and no matter what, I’m seeing this process through until its completion with plenty of unforced creative movement to come.

Thanks so much, Monica. Yes, that reference was the first thing that came to mind when I thought of how I would love the writing process to work for me 100% of the time. However, I’m not so sure that this scenario is a realistic one. I guess I’ll settle for at least 80% of the time. We’ll see what happens. Anyway, I look forward to following you on your blog. Thanks for your creative movement.:)
