The Road to Authorship

For Degrees of Maternity (DOM), 2019 has been a year for the books and we’re only in February.  I can say this because of the non-stop action I’ve experienced as a content creator since entering into a new calendar year.  I started my first ever 30-day challenge in early December, which ended with favorable results in early January.  Not only did I succeed in getting a lot of things accomplished (that had been dropped off at Procrastination Station for way too long), but I received my biggest audience from the blogging community during this time frame.  Exciting stuff!  Immediately after that, I started my new YouTube channel, also called Degrees of Maternity, and I’ve consistently been uploading a weekly video since the channel’s inception.  I’m currently at 4 videos now and still very green within the whole process, but I’m becoming increasingly knowledgeable in YouTube etiquette and am improving a little each week.  And now, I’m about to pursue a new adventurous endeavor that I’m hoping to add to my resume of 2019 accomplishments:  the writing of my first book.  Yes, you read that correctly.  I’m getting ready to forge my way onto the road of authorship (a personal dream and goal of mine).  I think I’ll fondly refer to this writing experience as the DOM Writer’s Block: A Writer’s Journey.

I know what you must be thinking.  You’re trying to make sense of the name of my soon-to-embark-upon writing journey.  Why associate a negative connotation for writers (like writer’s block) to such a positive and hopeful venture, you say?  Quite frankly, I like the play on words. Furthermore, I try to adopt the “look at the positive outlook on things” approach from time to time.  So for yours truly, the Writer’s (me) Block (a location) is a place for you to come visit me to see what I’m up to and where I’m at with my book.  Now, don’t get me wrong.  I won’t be giving you ALL the juicy details; but my plan is to invite you to experience enough of the writing journey with me to come back for more.  After all, whether you know it or not, I already consider you my accountability partner in this whole thing.  You’ve taken the time to give me your time (which I respectfully appreciate) with the writings I provide for the DOM blog and I’m counting on you to assist me on this new road of growth I will be traveling on.

Your support will be one of the reasons that I’m already anticipating seeing this goal through to its completion.  Why do I say this?  Well, you’ve provided that encouragement to me before by following my progress, by liking what I had to say and the actions behind the words, and by simply being there.  If you didn’t know it already, YOU are the accountability partner that got me through my 30-day challenge.  Thanks for that.  I would love it if you would be up for the challenge once again.  I do believe we are a great team.  Come visit me on the block… the DOM Writer’s Block.
