Day 27: Procrastination Station

Day 27 of the 30-Day Challenge: Procrastination Station

Task:  To take a 30-minute walk outside during the winter.

Reason for Task:  Actually, I love walking outside and I’ve missed doing so.  Once the weather starts getting nippy, I tend to reside indoors for the most part.  And although I’m getting my morning exercising at home with Kelli’s YouTube videos on Fitness Blender, there’s nothing like enjoying the fresh air and the radiant sunlight for the ultimate natural exercising environment.  Plus, I’ve been looking for the prime time to assist Little Man with the fitness challenge that his P.E. teacher gives to all the children in his class each month.  He receives an activity calendar that contains individual and group physical challenges that he is to complete each day.  It’s really a neat way for his school to encourage children to move and get some daily physical activity (other than what they’re receiving at school during P.E. class and recess).  So, today happened to be the perfect day to take a stroll outside with my son.  Yes, you read correctly.  I went for a winter day’s walk.

Duration of Task:  1 day.

Outcome:  Well, it was a win-win situation all the way around.  My son was able to cross off “going for a walk with his family” on his P.E. challenge calendar and I was able to say that I purposely took a walk outside on a winter day.  Don’t get me wrong… I’ve had to take walks outside in the winter before, but never have I actually done them on purpose… until now.  I also got to get a little sun, fresh air, a mild breeze, and some much needed exercise.  One reason I was content on walking today was because we got an awesome high temp of around 60 degrees.  Furthermore, I actually surpassed the requirements of my task for the day.  I walked a whole 40 minutes with my son instead of the 30 minutes I set for myself.

Update:  Here’s another reason that, for me personally, all is well with the world this fine Sunday.  OUR OVEN IS FIXED!!  You’ll have to go back and read Day 25: Procrastination Station to find out what happened with this whole oven situation.  Let’s just say it was an unexpected surprise.  Anyway, Hubby and Junior made quite the awesome team in resolving our predicament.  With a little researching on the internet, a little tweaking and replacing of parts, and a lot of patience and determination, this dynamic duo got a win for the team.  Sometimes, persistence pays off big dividends… like saving the household big-time money.
