Day 24: Procrastination Station

Day 24 of the 30-Day Challenge: Procrastination Station

Task:  To scrounge up enough nerve to make a dentist appointment for myself.

Reason for Task:  I am definitely overdue for my regular dental cleaning; and, I’m not going to divulge by how much.  But, I have to explain my reasoning for the delayed visit.  Historically, I usually don’t have good news when I go to my dentist’s office.  And for this reason, it’s easier to talk myself out of going.  Furthermore, it doesn’t help that I tend to come from the perspective:  “if it isn’t broken, leave well enough alone.”  So, when I say that today’s task may be one of the most difficult tasks thus far, I ain’t lying.  However, I do realize that there’s validity to preventative medical as well as dental care.  So, I’ve decided to make the first month of this new year my deadline to get back on the dental track.  Truly, there’s nothing like a good teeth cleaning and I totally remember how professionally-cleaned teeth feel.  Therefore, I’ve decided to be pleasing to my chompers for a change, by doing some dental upkeep.

Duration of Task:  1 day.

Outcome:  Today, I took Junior to his dentist appointment; and instead of attending his visit and exiting the door without stopping at the receptionist’s desk to make a future appointment for myself, I stopped at the front desk when we first arrived to the office and had myself scheduled for a cleaning later this month.  Woo Hoo!  I decided to make the appointment upon my arrival so I wouldn’t have time to talk myself out of it.  Way to not procrastinate, Jana!  I successfully completed the task.  Now, I just have to follow-through with the show-up.:)

Quote of the Day (mine):  Don’t neglect yourself!  Those who depend on you deserve the healthiest version of you.
