Day 22: Procrastination Station

Day 22 of the 30-Day Challenge: Procrastination Station

Task:  To start laying the framework for my new YouTube channel, Degrees of Maternity.

Reason for Task:  I have so much I’d like to share with an interested listening audience and YouTube (like WordPress) is a far-reaching platform that allows a regular person like myself to share my message with the world.  I’ve been talking myself in and out of creating a YouTube channel since I started this blog and probably even before that, due to the fact that:

  1. I’d prefer to be behind the camera rather than in front of it.
  2. My communication comfort zone resides in writing over public speaking.
  3. I don’t have the technical expertise to successfully establish and manage an ongoing project like YouTube all by my little lonesome.

But, I recently came to a resolution for all three of these deterrents to my pursuit of creating a YouTube channel.  They are as follows:

  1. I’m establishing a YouTube video format that will still allow me to remain behind-the-scenes while sharing my message with a YouTube audience.
  2. I will get to experience the best of both worlds, because my videos will require plenty of written as well as verbal communication.
  3. I will be receiving help from my tech-savvy family members.  Toodlez is performing the hand-crafted artistic design work, Junior is overseeing the online graphic design and set-up, Hubby is managing all the systems pieces involved with the channel set-up, and Little Man is my little beacon of light, encouraging my successful completion of this channel’s “Go Live”.

Duration of Task:  The foundational work for the YouTube channel starts today and should be completed within the next couple of weeks or so.  At that time, my YouTube channel should be live and work on the channel will be ongoing.

Outcome:  Today marks the day for Degrees of Maternity logo fine-tuning, YouTube banner creation, and Introductory/Welcome to the channel monologue creation and practice for the first video.  It was a productive day, but there’s much more work to do.  I’m hoping to get a little more done each day until I’m ready to launch my new channel, hopefully within the next week or two.  I’ll definitely let you know when the launch date arrives.

Quote of the Day (mine):  Degrees of Maternity is on the move, so come along for the ride.
