Day 10: Procrastination Station

Day 10 of the 30-Day Challenge: Procrastination Station

Task:  To create a high school to the present “scrapbook” for Toodlez (my daughter and first-born) and Junior (my son and middle child), highlighting important academic, extra-curricular, and professional events in their adolescent to young adult lives.  No photos are required for this book.

Reason for Task:  I just have to say that this is one of those times when I wish I knew something about scrapbooking.  In the task noted above, I’m using the term “scrapbook” very loosely, because I know absolutely nothing about scrapbooking.  What I should say is that I’m going to create a book of important documents (college admissions info, college acceptance info, scholarship recipient notices, employment offer letters, certificates of achievement, leadership recognition, etc.), chronicling noteworthy high school through college events, minus all the artistic pizazz of scrapbooking.  For purposes of the 30-day challenge, there’s no way that I’m going to become versed at such a creative skill set and neither do I have a desire to learn the art.  Scrapbooking, like learning the piano or sewing, is just one of those resourceful talents I wished I had picked up earlier in my youth when I was quicker to absorb instruction and could more easily carry it out.  I can fully appreciate such talents when I see them, though.

You might be saying… aren’t your children old enough to compile their own high school and college memorabilia into a neatly, organized repository for their future reference and enjoyment?  Well yes, they’re old enough, but I’m one of those moms who likes to have her hands on the pulse of all the achievements and endeavors her children have earned or participated in.  So whether they wanted me to or not, I pretty much took over any paperwork alluding to their successes.  I’m a proud momma…what can I say?  Furthermore, working on such a task is furthest from the mind of my college-age children.  They have more pressing matters to attend to, so I pretty much have free reign to make this project my very own.  Plus, I didn’t even tell Toodlez or Junior I was doing this task, as I want it to be a surprise.

Duration of Task:  It will take 2 days to complete.  (Today will be day 1 and I will plan on finishing up tomorrow).  The creation of these “scrapbooks” has been dropped off in Procrastination Station for some time now.  Toodlez will be graduating from college in May and Junior has completed his first semester of his Freshman year of college, so I would say it’s time to get ‘er done.

The Outcome will be captured in Day 11’s recount.

Let the fun begin…
