In order to get a jumpstart on accomplishing some tasks that I’ve dropped off at a fictitious destination I like to call “Procrastination Station”, I’ve decided to go on a 30-day challenge and to have you hold me accountable for seeing it through to its completion. My list of challenge items is partly inspired by the list generated from my previous post, entitled A Call to Action: Stop Procrastinating!, and partially derived from some personal goals and overlooked tasks that I’ve chosen to postpone but that need some well deserved attention. So, I’m boldly declaring that the time to address them is NOW! And, taking you along for the ride is practically my way of screaming for help; because I feel like the only way I’m going to get these things done is to challenge myself to take action by having others hold my feet to the fire. Family and friends are great accountability partners, but there’s nothing like a good, old-fashioned declaration to your audience in the blogosphere to increase your likelihood for follow-through of a task.

Okay, here are the logistics for this challenge. I will be taking 30 days out of the calendar year to achieve goals and tasks that I have set. And, it won’t necessarily be the completion of 30 different to-dos in 30 days, because I can guarantee that some of these endeavors will only require one work day, while others may have a longer duration of completion. I will also have some stackable challenges, which means that there will be some goals/tasks that will not conclude on their day of implementation. In fact, I will attempt to repeat some of them consistently until they become a part of my daily regimen. Furthermore, the 30 days will not be consecutive, because I will be excluding Saturdays due to my observance of the Sabbath Day. Therefore, I will not be doing any type of work on those days. Only Saturdays will be omitted, so my challenge days will be Sunday through Friday each week. Lastly, I will make sure and post an update on each challenge day to let you know how things are progressing.
The purpose of this challenge is to GET THINGS DONE! I know I’m personally going to feel accomplished by getting these neglected priorities out of Procrastination Station and I have a feeling that my family is going to reap some benefits as a result of this challenge. Since this is my first public challenge and it’s somewhat of a trial run for all other challenges to follow, I’ll wait to see how it ends before deciding if I’d like to pursue any more in the future or even recommend the process to others. While a little pessimism is trying to creep in about whether or not I can see this through, I’m mostly optimistic about the whole venture. However, I do know that I’ll be more successful if you come along on the ride with me, even more so than if I were to travel this journey solo. So, I would be appreciative if you’d accept the invitation and please don’t feel like you’d have to be a silent travelling companion. The trip goes faster when you have someone to talk to, so feel free to correspond. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
