We…Are…Family

Today, I thought I’d introduce you to the fam., the objects of my affection (a.k.a., the loves of my life).  Without question, my very motivation and inspiration for this blog comesFamily from my family; and undoubtedly, I’ll be bringing them into the discussion quite often.  I wanted to somewhat personalize them for you; so going forward, I will lovingly refer to my husband and three children as:

Husband or Hubby for my husband (I know…not a very original name),

Toodlez for my firstborn (off-the-charts original name),

Junior for my middle child (also not a very original name), and

Little Man for my youngest child (only a hint of original here).

What’s in a nickname?  I’m sure you figured out that the above are not the names that the other four-fifths of my family unit were given at birth.  These are, however, the nicknames that I’ve either chosen for them for purposes of this blog or nicknames that we actually use for a couple of the members in our household.  I personally think that these alternative names often personify the people that use them.  In other words, the name somehow fits the personality.  Weird, huh?

So, here’s the explanation.  My husband is Husband or Hubby; because quite frankly, I’m thankful that he’s been wholeheartedly willing to take on this role in my life.  I’ve truly been blessed with the best.  My daughter, Toodlez, has a name that came to fit her personality beautifully.  She’s so hands-on artistic in so many facets and Toodlez (rhymes with noodles) is just one of those unique and imaginative names that reminds me of her creative flare.  Now, for the boys.  My oldest son is Junior based on his ever-growing resemblance to his dad…not so much in looks but in behaviors.  The older he gets, the more I see Hubby in him; and rightfully so.  I think it’s pretty common for a father to see some of his influence in his son.  And my little third grader is Little Man.  He’s a child among adults, growing up with a sister and brother who are 13 years and 10 years his senior.  And although he can put on the baby act when it suits his purpose; at times, I’m forced to remind him that he’s a child and not an adult.  Stay in your lane, son!

Well, it’s been absolutely enjoyable giving you a little look-see into my family dynamic.  There will be plenty more where that came from.  So, please tune in for more content (not for the reality-tv-drama version but for the real-life-that-can-change-lives version).
